2nd Whanau Reunion

28 Dec 2007 - 4 Jan 2008

After such a huge successful gathering of our last Hui it was decided to hold another bigger and better reunion. It was planned to go down South so Port Levy and Little River were looked at. Port Levy marae was unavailable so we went with Little River but alas with the renovations of the wharenui and some other unexpected hiccups it was decided to go back to Whanganui.

All descendants of

Hohepa Rangimakere/Rakimakere Edwards & Ani Tamati, and their tamariki, John Joseph (Jack), Kuini, Toria, Felix (Phil), Phoebie, Cecilia Kaihau & Lillian were invited to attend a reunion at Rangahaua Marae, Whanganui from 28 Dec 2007 – 4 Jan 2008. This was a chance for extended whanau to meet each other, it also give us the opportunity to combine our information to strengthen our knowledge of our whakapapa. As an added bonus it was lots of fun late nights, lots of talking and catching up and lots of photos taken. You can see some of them on here. The final highlight was a waka made by Gordon and his helpers. I will add some photos then a narrative of some of the things we did at the reunion

Well, I am counting down now. Four weeks today and i have no idea of how many are coming. I do know at this stage that there will be at least 18 and some will pop in for one day. Who knows, we may be able to encourage them to stay cos we will be having so much fun. Don't forget to bring photos, stories and other information to share with us all. There will be a photocopier available to share our info. If anyone wants to add anything to this diary then drop me a line on my email address and i will put it in here. Off to do some study and will come back and update this tomorrow

ok so I didn't get here the next day.......

Anyway have had an update to say that one branch is bringing down 10 people.

From my side I think there are 6 that I know of so far.

Of course the home crowd will be there in force. My guess is at least 10 - 20

Then there are the people who are dropping in for one day or so

21 Dec

well my ability to keep you all updated is not going so well....well not as well as I would like it to have been, BUT...it is only 6 more sleeps and I will be back in Whanganui for our reunion. I reckon we will definitely hit the 100 mark of people being there. Not necessarily all at one given time but from the feedback I sure do expect a huge crowd.

I have been very slack at keeping this updated. There has been so much to do and so much to add that I am gradually getting there. The reunion was great, lots of kai, lots of fun, lots of more learning and lots of meeting new rellies. Watch this space for more news, photos etc
